Jenny Lind Trunk Restoration

$2,000

The style of this 1860’s era trunk is called a keyhole, loaf of bread or Jenny Lind, who was a then-popular diva.

It arrived with all its leather shorn, the trunk in pieces.

It would have had a tray sitting inside above the main chamber – missing – a tray which I reconstructed.

This is not a museum-quality restoration because, at the behest of the owner, I did not track down period hardware for the lockset or hinges.

It had already been half-lined with cedar, which wouldn’t have been the case originally. I also recreated many of the metal bands which were missing, also not with period strap iron.
