Scoptics Case

Product Description

The German WWII era Kriegsmarine bino’s – made by Schneider Kreuznach – were a handsome birthday gift, but clearly, it needed a case.  Perhaps a case evoking mid-Twentieth Century, and with a whiff of the sea.

The case is in two parts: an inner case that holds and secures the optics during rough sea conditions; and an outer slipcase.

The inner, work-a-day, or in this case, swab-the-deck-day case is formed from ¾” plywood augmented with tailored holdfasts that stabilize the binoculars yet permit rapid removal when there’s steamship smoke on the horizon.

The outer slip case is cherry with alder trim and measures approximately 8 x 11 x 19 inches (20 x 28 x48 cm).  The four holes near the slipcase corner allow pass through of the hanger bolts attached to the inner case.  Onto these hanger bolts thread T-knobs which fasten both cases together.

Don’t have a WWII era German scope?  I offer this case as an example of possibilities.  It is possible that you have a treasure that deserves both the protection and the elegance only a custom-made case can convey.
