Block Plane Restoration

When I first saw this at a salvage shop, I thought, “what’s a chunk of firewood doing for sale?”

It wasn’t firewood, although it had been charred.

It was a block or jack plane, missing front and rear handles.

Once I sanded off the char and polished and sharpened the blade, it began to look better.

Better still with the recreation of the front knob and rear handle.
